What's New

New range of bags for the summer

We've added a selection of fab straw and rattan, clutch, beach and barrel bags for the summer hols. All created by designer Pia Rossini, they're practical but fun and make great presents for girlfriends - or a treat for yourself at the same time. In great summer brights as well as classic colours, we're convinced they're bound to become wardrobe staples. Click here for details.

Creative thinking required?

It's believed  by many that semi-precious stones, or crystals, emanate certain energies that are beneficial to the wearer. Amethyst, for example, is claimed to encourage creative thinking, spiritual awareness and healing. And if you struggle to get your beauty sleep, advocates also believe it can help with insomnia.

New for 2010

We're thrilled to be able to offer, from the start of 2010, a range of wonderful, contemporary designs from Block, a unique company from Cornwall, combining elegant design with the clean, modern lines of acrylic, glass and silver. A slight departure from the marginally more traditional style of some of our other products, we just love it and so do you (or so you tell us!).

NSPCC Christmas Fair, Carlisle, 2/3 November 2009

Sophie and Syam took a selection of Bibi & Jules gifts to the annual NSPCC Christmas Fair, held at the Shepherd's Inn in Carlisle. They met some lovely people and had a brilliant time! Thanks are due to Juliet and her committee for a superbly organised event, that ran like clockwork, and we hope they raised a none-too-small fortune for the charity!

Oak and ash and St Swithin

Country lore is under some suspicion here in Cumbria. The most dangerous chocolate cake in the world

OK, OK - I know it's a bad juxtaposition putting chocolate cake next to dieting but...
I'm the type of person that usually deletes round-robin, chain letter emails but this one got past my guard, and I'm rather glad! Part of the appeal was the fact that I didn't have to forward it to at least 10 people if I wanted to avoid dire consequences. The main appeal is its simplicity and its taste!

The answer is...yoghurt.

Apparently, the average person puts on three pounds over Christmas and New Year. So with dieting firmly at the forefront of many a conversation, I'd like to report that I've just finished reading "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano who, as President and CEO of Veuve Clicquot, drinks Champagne on a daily basis (well someone has to) and remains slim and sylph-like. She  confesses that it wasn't always so, but her secret weapon is natural, unsweetened yoghurt.

We've moved!

With help from a squad of trusty removal men and umpteen packing cases, we're now ensconced in The Old Cornmill in the village of Heads Nook in the glorious countryside of north Cumbria. With views of the Pennines and horses clattering past the window, this really is country living!
